CHÊNE BLEU ROSÉ VIEILLES VIGNES
RÉSERVE SPÉCIALE 2017

A blend of old-vine Grenache and Syrah grown in elevated vineyards at approximately 500m [1,600ft] and above.  Soil composition is largely clay-like limestone.  Radiating bright salmon pink, the nose offers a generous basket of citrus, berries, and exotic fruits.  Chiseled and multi-layered, the palate delivers even more toothsome fruits with herbs and floral notes against the backdrop of crispy acidity, leading to a long finish.

SERVING SUGGESTIONS

Versatile enough to be savored on its own or paired with seafood and white meat.  Serving temperature: 12-13°C.  Aging potential: 5 years.

TASTING NOTES

THE ART

Miquel Barceló, Sin Titulo, 2011, XI

Barceló is one of the most celebrated artists of the 21st century.  His experience of traversing the globe from Europe to North America and West Africa left an indelible mark on his art.  True to his contemporary universalist style, he employed a variety of materials in layers to create this composition of texture and substance.  Delving deep into the infantile memory of mankind at the dawn of civilization, when the surrounding flora and fauna had yet to be tamed, the image suggests a bullfighting scene, within its primal power shrouded in memory and myth.
