Our unique characteristicS
A Protected Mountain Saddle
Chêne Bleu wines begin with the exceptional advantage of isolation. We are able to capture and express the individual character of the terroir – the soil, the microclimate, the vegetation, the altitude – that make our wines unique. All the experts agree that it is an exceptional site for growing grapes due to its complex clay and limestone soils, its varied exposures and slopes, its isolation and altitude.
An Unusual Terroir
The vineyards are situated at the crossroads of four Rhône Appellations near Gigondas. For the wines of Chêne Bleu this is not a defining aspect, given the natural and a-typical characteristics of our terroir. Therefore, we have chosen to implement these French and International practices that we believe are best suited, even when it means presenting the wines as Vin De Pays.
We ferment the grapes under carefully controlled conditions in our gravity-fed winery, using bespoke winemaking techniques adapted to the specificities of each parcelle. We use a full range of vats and the finest oak barrels to preserve their eloquence and character. The resulting wines are fine, complex and expressive.
