Pont des Arts is proud to introduce its first ever Rosé, Vieilles Vignes ‘Réserve Spéciale’ 10th Anniversary, a limited edition made in collaboration with esteemed French winery Chêne Bleu, which is celebrating its tenth vintage.  This cuvée completes Pont des Arts’ Miquel Barceló Collection and displays artwork from the celebrated artist on its label.  It will be released in a number of countries, including the US, UK, Hong Kong and France in Spring/Summer 2016.  The first launch events will be in Hong Kong on May 31st and London on June 6th.

An exclusive collaboration inspired by friendships and a shared philosophy

Pont des Arts & Chêne Bleu bring together their noteworthy “savoir faire” to present this stylistically different, limited edition Rosé 2015, and pair it with the fiery art of Miquel Barceló. Their collaboration came together as a celebration of their friendship, and embodies their mutual love of excellence, beauty and innovation. The powerful art of the contemporary Spanish master aligns naturally with the expression of fruit from this wild, mountain vineyard: the old vines produce a more taut, muscular style of Grenache at the limit of where this grape can grow, in altitude and latitude.Miquel Barceló is known for his uncanny ability to capture the essence of his culture, which he interprets with his signature bold iconography. Chêne Bleu has its own affectionate but fresh take on local tradition and culture, working with top quality Rhône grapes, regional know-how and organic and biodynamic vineyard practices whilst bringing its own distinctive blends and expressive style. This approach has earned their wines the reputation of being the first “Super Rhônes”.

Pont des Arts – A unique concept uniting Great Art and Top Winemaking

Created by dynamic young talents Thibault Pontallier and Arthur de Villepin, Pont des Arts has been curating limited edition Art & Wine collections since 2010 and is now available in more than 20 countries. Pont des Arts is a bridge between Art and Wine, the East and the West, and collectors and newcomers alike. It has married the best from the art world (such as Zao Wou-Ki, Yue Minjun & Miquel Barceló) and the wine world (including the late and immensely loved and respected Paul Pontallier and other recognised wine experts from France). In a constant pursuit of quality, pleasure, and beauty, Pont des Arts is proud to present this ultimate Art & Wine experience.

Chêne Bleu – When medieval meets modern

The Chêne Bleu vineyard, owned by the Rolet family, is nestled very high in the Dentelles de Montmirail, in a historically significant site over 1000 years old, near Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the South of France. Sharing the philosophy of Pont des Arts, it reconciles a deep respect for tradition, innovation and nature, and produces award-winning, refined and complex wines, with a deeply original expression to reflect the extreme altitude and its wild natural environment. Often referred to as a rising star, Chêne Bleu’s wines have already won more than 70 awards around the world in less than a decade, including selection as Best Rosé, in many of the most well-regarded selective international tastings.

THE WINE AND THE ART

The Pont des Arts & Chêne Bleu Rosé 2015 – Vieilles Vignes «Réserve Spéciale» 10th Anniversary

This Rosé is a blend dominated by 65-year-old organically farmed Grenache with just a touch of Syrah, with bright notes of citrus and exotic fruits, and aromas of summer flowers. Ground organic green pea powder is used for fining in lieu of commonly used chemicals. It is refreshing and lively, yet retains a full body, pronounced minerality and a long elegant finish - the Chêne Bleu signatures that have won them international acclaim. This Rosé 2015 is produced in limited quantities – only 1,000 bottles and 480 magnums, and carries the fiery painting by Miquel Barceló epitomising the essence of a Spanish bull: Sin título, 2011, XI

Miquel Barceló – The originality of iconography

Miquel Barceló is a world-renowned contemporary Spanish-born artist. A traveller since his early years, he fulfils a constant thirst for cultural diversity by sharing his time between Paris, Mali and his native Majorca. With influences as wide ranging as Velasquez, Tintoretto, Rembrandt and Dubuffet, he was the youngest artist ever to be exhibited at the Louvre and is currently exhibiting in Paris at the Picasso Museum and the Bibliothèque Nationale.Few subject matters are as emblematic of Spain as the bull. Bullfighting, a time-honoured tradition there, dates back to the prehistoric period. Drawing inspiration from his Majorcan and Spanish culture, Miquel Barceló created this vibrant artwork depicting the pulsating passion of the bullring, a fitting metaphor for this aromatic and lively wine. This limited-edition Rosé brings together the excellence of Chêne Bleu’s secluded, high-altitude terroir in the Southern Rhône, the great winemaking skills of the Pontallier family from Bordeaux, and the ardent iconography of Miquel Barceló.[gallery ids="1862,1861" type="rectangular"]
