Inauguration of the Winery

On August 30th, we hosted the official opening of the winery, to thank the myriads of local people, craftsmen, architects, who helped us along the tortuous way to designing and completing the renovation of La Verriere, the landscaping of the grounds, and the construction of the "cave" (winery) and "caveau" (winetasting room). Xavier counted over 242 different companies that worked at La Verriere over the last decade... What a fantastic but gruelling adventure it's been! Next time, TurnKey operation please, darling! Couldn't have done it without them, or without the support and ideas from our friends and family....

Nothing like a glass of Chene Bleu rose' on a fine sunny day... We gathered under the old linden tree, then let the band lead the way to the winery.

We were keen to do things "by the book". Mme Guintrand, mayor of Crestet ("Mme Le Maire") kindly spoke very flatteringly of Xavier's great resolve and tenacity. I guess it helps to be the 800-pound gorilla in a tiny medieval village. Adrien held the red velvet cushion (yikes, but c'est la Tradition) and Corentin handed her the golden scissors.

In true Provencal tradition, the mayor of Crestet accompanied by our other local mayors and local notables, cut the ribbon.

We were graced with perfect weather, so after the winery tour locals got to unwind to the tunes of our dear James Vich, a true Provencal Papi and priceless character who has contributed much joy, artwork and "couleur locale" to La Verriere through the years.
